Unlocking a mobile phone means removing the network lock, so that you can use it on any network. So if you purchased the Nokia E6 with, for example, a Vodafone or T-Mobile contract but want to put in an Orange sim card, that may not work until you have unlocked the phone.
Using an unlocking code means that you can remove the network lock without the use of any special equipment, cables or computer software. Instead all you need is your mobile phone. You order a phone depending on your handset's serial number or IMEI, receive the unlock code by email and then follow a set of online instructions to enter it.
There are several things to bear in mind before ordering an online unlock code:
Once you place an order, it cannot be cancelled because it is a personalised service.
Those codes that are calculated by computer are delivered within an hour.
If the delivery time is a day or longer, then it is only an estimate because suppliers often need to search several sources before retrieving your code.
If you have tried entering an unlock code in the past and it was incorrect, then no new purchases you make will be guaranteed.
Entering an incorrect unlock code repeatedly on a Nokia mobile will stop you from entering unlock codes in the future.
The Nokia E6 cell phone has not been released yet, but we have written this guide to cover Nokia E6 unlocking and unlock codes for when the device is released. A Nokia E6 that is locked to a single phone carrier and uses a SIM card will need an unlock code in order to remove the SIM lock that comes on most SIM devices by default. If your Nokia E6 has a SIM lock on it, then it will prevent you from using the mobile phone with any other carriers.
I would first recommend you try getting a Nokia E6 unlock code by calling up your current phone carrier. In exchange, they will need your Nokia E6's IMEI number. Your IMEI number is unique to your mobile device and the Nokia unlock code will be calculated using it. You can get the IMEI number on your Nokia E6 simply by typing *#06# and hitting the enter or send button. If you do not currently have a carrier or cannot get a free unlock code, then I would reccomend trying some of the unlock code websites that I have reviewed below.
Once you have your unlock code, you can begin the Nokia E6 unlocking steps below.
How To Unlock A Nokia E6 (SIM Unlock)
Power ON your Nokia mobile phone without your SIM card.
Now type: #PW+CODE+1# (Where CODE is your Nokia unlock code)
Your phone should now show "SIM Restriction Off" and is unlocked.
You must press the * key several times to get the characters for "P" and "W".
NOTE: The free unlock instructions provided on this site only work with GSM or SIM card versions of the Nokia E6. As always there may be already unlocked versions of this mobile phone, but generally cost a lot more then unlocking it yourself.
Get a Nokia E6 Unlock Code
Getting a free code from your carrier doesn't always work. Alternatively, we recommend this unlock service when trying to find an unlock code.
This is a very easy to use phone, But very dear for the little it does, you would think a pmisle phone like this for the elderly would be a lot cheaper.
